Do you want to have a better relationship with your teenager?

Is there an invisible wall between you and your kids which blocks communication?

Is your family having a hard time dealing with a recent change in the family?

Being a part of a family can bring us a sense of contentment, safety and love. However, there are times when problems arise or people feel at odds with the other members of their family. At those times it can be helpful to seek out a therapist. I help families develop better communication and listening skills which leads to more satisfying relationships between family members. Through talking to each other in a safe environment, I have found that family members begin to better understand each other, appreciate and respect each other more and learn how their behavior affects others in their family.

In addition to offering family therapy, I also meet individually with teens to help them overcome different challenges. Please see my Teen Therapy page for more information on this type of counseling as well as information about my work with parents.

These are some of the issues in which I can help your family:
Adjusting to Divorce or Separation
Developing Better Communication
Dealing with Grief and Loss
Coping with Different Life Transitions

The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.
Erma Bombeck

Family faces are magic mirrors. Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present, and future.
Gail Lumet Buckley

Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible -- the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.
